TSUNAMI
Tsunamis occur when a mayor fault
under the ocean floor suddenly slips. The displaced rock pushes water above it
like a giant paddle, producing powerful water waves at the ocean surface. The
ocean wave spread out from the vicinity of the earthquake source and move
across the ocean until they reach the coastline, where their height increases
as they reach the continental shelf, the part of earth’s crust that slopes, or
rises, from ocean floor up the land.
Tsunamis wash ashore with often
disastrous effect such as severe flooding, loss of lives due to drowning, and
damage to property.
A tsunami is very large sea wave
that is generated by disturbance along the ocean floor. This disturbance can be
an earthquake, a landslide, or a volcanic eruption. A tsunami is undetectable
far out in the ocean, but once it reaches shallow water, this fast- traveling
wave grows very large.

The emus are large bird but they
cannot fly. They live all over Australia
in a grassland area. The emus eat grass, leaves and small insects. They weigh
around 36 kilograms but some weigh as much as 50 kilograms.
These birds have three toes on their
feet and very long legs. They can run very fast – up to 50 kilometres per hour.
The female emus usually lay about 20
eggs. The eggs are large and dark green coloured. Meanwhile the male emus sit
on the eggs in the large nest until the eggs hatch. They sit on the eggs for
round 7 – 8 weeks. They do not leave the nest for this time. When the eggs
hatch, the male emus look after the babies for about six month. Therefore, the
female emus do not care for the babies.
